Meet the Sudor Taino Team aka The Vibe Tribe!
The core Vibe Tribe Instructors (Karla, Carli & Sarah) are the Winners of the 2013 ECA World Fitness, “So You Think You Can Present” Competition.
Carli is a certified Zumba and IFA certified group fitness instructor, personal trainer and facilitator of THE GROOVE and GROOVE Kids. Carli is also the Instructors Director who assists with their training and development. Carli who strives to bring the intensity, energy, and passion that she lives into her classes to share it with everyone that is open to accept it. She believes in Sudor Taino workouts as they are designed to push each person to get through a workout that will then help them gain the confidence, strength, and determination to face anything in life. She has trained with Karla since about 2009 and with ST since the grand opening in 2012. With a love for athletics Carli spends her free time skiing, wake boarding or running. She has completed a few half marathons, a Tough Mudder and other obstacle/mud runs. Carli works her 9 to 5 for a prestigious mortgage company.
Sarah Mangiafico is a IFA Certified Group Fitness instructor and facilitator of THE GROOVE and GROOVE Kids. She started her career in education teaching in an elementary school, grades kindergarten through fourth grade and went on to specialize in literacy as a language arts consultant and currently works for CREC Aerospace in Rocky Hill. Sarah holds an Administration Degree. She is an IFA certified fitness instructor and personal trainer who began her journey over ten years ago while taking Karla Medina’s cardio kickboxing class at a local gym. Hooked on the contagious, soul-searching vibe and hunger for authenticity, Sarah became a dedicated follower of the mission-to live a life of passion. Since the ST’d opening in 2012 Sarah has been part of creating a synergy of love, light and acceptance of all that is all good. Sarah is happily married and a mother one child.
Kim is an IFA Certified Group Fitness Instructor. Her health and fitness have become an integral part of Kim’s life since her own weight-loss transformation in 2004. On this journey, exercise, specifically running was a means to de-stress and get lost in her thoughts without falling back to food for comfort. She wanted something to push her past her limits. This is what led her to Sudor Taino. The positive energy and means of personal, physical, and spiritual growth led her t become an IFA Certified Group Fitness Instructor & one of the Leaders of the Vibe Tribe in Motion Group. She was born and raised in Staten Island, NYC and graduated college with a degree in Chemistry & Math and then went on to the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine to achieve her doctorate degree. She also holds a specialty degree in Prosthodontics and a Masters in Dental Science has from UConn. She is also currently an educator and is practicing dentistry in her specialty.
Omayra Martinez-Baidy is a certified AFSA Group Fitness Instructor and has been hooked on the healthy benefits of fitness since 1998. Omayra is a 14-year veteran of the Hartford Police Department which is where she first met Karla Medina, the owner of Sudor Taino Group Fitness. Since taking one of Karla’s kickboxing classes in 2000 she has been an true supporter of Karla’s mission to live fitness and life with passion. Omayra is an avid runner and the organizer and leader of the Vibe tribe in Motion Group. She is expected to bring her graceful Latin flair to classes. Omayra is excited to contribute her unique style to a group of individuals who are known to motivate each other and others to their greatest potential. Omayra is happily married and the mother of three children who she looks to inspire everyday.
Micala Attended CCSU ( New Britain CT ) received BA in Communications & Psychology
with a career in the insurance field for 13 + years. She also owns and operates a small commercial cleaning business. She is currently a protégé at Sudor Taino and has been in the Instructor Training Program since 2015 and a member since 2011. Through two pregnancies, not a day went by (since I took my first class) that I questioned my reason or purpose for falling into this amazing group of women. I have always had a passion for fitness, and Sudor Taino has been my vessel to let that shine. Becoming a certified group fitness instructor, I have learned so much about my true self, my goals, and my passions. All of this has come to the surface by being a part of this unique, eclectic, and magnificent tribe. I am a firm believer in the Sudor Taino motto“Fitness & Life with Passion”!.
Kate Mitchell has been an entrepreneur and involved with business for over 20 years. She is multi-faceted in all business relations and consults with an eye for detail. Kate has been a part of Sudor Taino’s energy since its conception and has been the driving force behind its structure and foundation. The Sudor Taino workouts and its overall mission prompted her to become a AFSA Certified Sports Nutritionist and support herself and others through the daily rigor of food choices. Kate is the owner of Simplistic Solutions, Beach Body Coach, Global Healing Affiliate and Contract Administrator for BVH Integrated Solutions. Kate is happily married and mother to three children.
Our Front Desk Manager/Hostess is yummy sister to founder Karla Rodriguez. Jeannette has over 20 years experience in coordinating a variety of events,office work, billing and management. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Albertus Magnus College and a Health Club Management Certification. Her gracious organization and personality are the driving force behind keeping members happy. She currently holds a position with Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters & the Foster Grandparents Program. Jeannette is the proud mother of one young man.
Our front desk is covered Melissa Perez, yummy cousin of the founder. Melissa was selected for this position due to her organizational skills, positive attitude, workout will and most of all commitment to the Sudor Taino mission. Melissa lost almost 50 pounds with the support of Sudor Taino and is currently planting positive seeds so that others follow in her footsteps. She helped come up with the name the “Vibe Tribe” based on her experience at the studio. Melissa is the proud mother of one young man.
Richard is Karla’s husband and father to their three children. He has been the support and foundation behind the formation of Sudor Taino. Richie is a retired Sergeant from the Hartford Police Department with a specialty in Operations Plans, police background investigations, physical agility assessment & administration, and interview & interrogation helped create the Recruit Prep Program. Richie is a Recruit Prep Trainer and in charge of all facility management, overhead planning and structural changes.
MEET OUR NEW GUEST INSTRUCTOR:
Since 1998, Glori was motivated and inspired to teach fitness because she wanted to make a difference in peoples lives similar to what Richard Simmons did for her mom in the 1980’s. Glori’s was inspired by her children Yazmin, Kaila, and Mark as well as her grandchildren Lily and Jules to stay activate and live a healthy lifestyle- so with God’s will- they could enjoy her for many years to come. She is excited to join the Sudor Taino team as a guest instructor and be part of the Vibe Tribe. Glori is certified by AFAA as a Group Fitness instructor and has taught many fitness modalities including but not limited to Aqua Aerobics, Aqua Zumba, Zumba, Step, Cycle, Bootcamp, and Circuit training. She is a director of a telecommunications consulting firm and is a University of Hartford alumni with a major in Human Resources.
The Sudor Taino team is hand selected by Karla Medina and all participant in the Sudor Taino Instructor Training Program (I.T.P.). The Sudor Taino Instructor Training program was created by Karla Medina to select and breed instructors from within the walls of the Sudor Taino and it consists of four (4) phases to include protege and instructor statuses. Guest Instructors are also invited to grace our floor with their energy to conduct workshops or instruct single classes.
